Having got a degree in Classics and worked as Theatre Marketing Manager for seven years, at 28, Hannah finally committed herself to her primary passion exploring.
The search for adventure began with a series of expeditions to the deep Sahara. Over a period of three years Hannah visited the remotest regions of Egypt, Libya, Sudan and Algeria. Five of these expeditions were focused on looking for new examples of prehistoric rock art with Hungarian rock art researcher and desert guru, Andras Zboray.
In 2004 Hannah joined a British expedition to explore the isolated Wakan Corridor in the northeast of Afghanistan in search of the source of the River Oxus. The narrow mountain

valley is walled by the Hindu Kush in Pakistan to the south, the Pamirs in Tajikistan to the north and the Karakorams in China to the east. The upper regions of this area can only be reached on foot by crossing several 15,000ft passes and has rarely been visited by westerners. Part of the research was to take DNA samples of the nomadic tribe people there to establish their genetic links to Alexander the Great and his army.
Later in 2004 Hannah undertook an epic 53 day, 690 mile expedition from the coast of Antarctica to the geographic South Pole. Crossing the vast and monotonous expanse of one of the harshest environments in the world the team battled with physical and mental exhaustion, frostbite, injury, hunger and some of the lowest temperatures on earth.
In 2005 Hannah completed half the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, sailing as watch leader on Glasgow Clipper from Liverpool in England to Portugal, Brazil, Durban, Fremantle, Singapore and the Philippines. In December 2006 she returned to the South Pole this time setting a new World Record for the Solo Journey.
